Break the Cycle of Children's Mental Illnesses

The Cause

Dr. Martin and FamilyChildren's mental illnesses are REAL, COMMON, and TREATABLE. Yet today in the United States, this vulnerable population is caught in a vicious cycle of limited access to care, delayed treatment, and worsening illnesses.

Join us on our ride to Break the Cycle by raising awareness and support to (1) fund innovative research initiatives, (2) increase the number of child and adolescent psychiatrists, and (3) help ensure that children suffering in silence get the treatment they need.

Andrés Martin, MD, MPH, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and prominent member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), is leading this cross-country bike ride from Washington state to Washington, DC, starting in the summer of 2017, to raise awareness of the challenges faced by children with mental illnesses.

Dr. Martin works at the Yale Child Study Center and Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. He has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 2008. He is an avid cyclist and triathlete. Dr. Martin lives in New Haven, Connecticut, with his wife, Rebecca, and their four children.
